After several recent improvements to its ensemble, you’d be forgiven for believing that Spider-Man: Homecoming was eventually done with cast, but director Jon Watts has really thought it out of the box. According to Deadline comic, Martha Kelly has signed up for a mystery character, while UFC Welterweight Champ, Tyron Woodley has stated that he was already working on the Marvel film.
This is not the first time Marvel have added a professional combatant to their cast; Georges St-Pierre starred as Batroc the Leaper in Captain America: The Winter Soldier – and took part in a tone-setting early fight scene – while Scott Adkins will be showing up in Doctor Strange. We do not understand just how Woodley will fit into Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it is safe to presume he will get into a fight with the Tom Holland at some point. Aside Robert Downey Jr., Hannibal Buress, Donald Glover, and now Kelly, Watts has signed up some outstanding comedic performers also.
Directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr, Donald Glover, and Zendaya, Spider-Man: Homecoming will dangle into theaters on July 7, 2017.
